After reaching out to unblended for samples and cupping through them I chose to contract this Pink Bourbon as our first coffee for our menu. It was as human of an experience as you could get, and it made my heart feel full. Diego and Yessica, thank you for giving me the opportunity to share your coffee with the world. Their great-grandfather began cultivating coffee as a livelihood, and their grandfather and parents continued building the tradition.

Although their family was long involved in coffee, it wasn’t until Yessica explored specialty coffee through studies and teaching at SENA that she realized its full potential. She soon introduced her brother Diego to this world, and together they founded Diwan Coffee.

This initially started as a hobby while working in other coffee companies, but over time their passion grew into a business, leading them to leave their jobs, acquire their own farm, and develop unique processes. Diego specializes in fermentation and varietal profiling, while Yessica mastered cupping, logistics, and sourcing. Today, Diwan Coffee brings together their own production with allied farmers. In November 2024, they officially launched their brand which was their first export together, a new chapter in a family legacy that began generations ago.

From: Nyaruguru, Rwanda

Varietal: Red Bourbon

Process: Washed

Notes: Lemon-lime, Green Apple, Tamarind

125g whole coffee beans

Coffee cherries are handpicked, sorted, and then floated to remove defects. Fugi was built in 2013, but it was purchased by Emmanuel Rusatira (Sundog Trading/Baho) in 2016. Since then, he’s dedicated this station to solely producing specialty grade coffee.

Fugi was one of Emmanuel's first two washing stations, and it played an integral role as the foundation upon which he launched Baho Coffee operations back in 2016. It’s the third smallest station in the Baho collection, purchasing cherry from around 950 smallholder farmers and producing 900 60kg bags of exportable specialty grade coffee each year. This specific lot is a separation from Kiyonza Hill.

“All year round we work together with coffee producers to support them both on the field and financially. This is to produce the best coffee cherries of the region and boost quality, year after year. All our attention goes to selection, depulping, fermentation, washing, drying, storage, and continuous quality control. We believe coffee talks. Cleanliness, mouthfeel, aroma, sweetness, acidity, tasting notes - all come to the surface in the cup. Listening to our coffees and sharing their conversation is our main goal. That is why we want to connect with you to establish a long term relationship wherein we can support each other, grow together, and make a difference in coffee culture and beyond!”

-Emmanuel Rusatira

From: Santa Teresa, Cusco, Peru - Nueva Alianza

Varietal: Yellow Gesha

Process: Washed

Notes: Starfruit, White Florals, Lemongrass

125g whole coffee beans

I had purchased a very small amount of this coffee and after roasting only a small amount passed QC.
